Mamma Home: Embracing Comfort in U-Shaped Leisure Chair

Oppein's Award-Winning Design Marries Comfort with Customization

In a blend of Italian craftsmanship and modern comfort, Oppein Home Group Inc. introduces Mamma Home, a leisure chair that promises a warm, enveloping embrace reminiscent of a grandmother's arms. This piece not only won the prestigious Iron A' Furniture Design Award but also redefines the sitting experience with its unique U-shaped design and customizable features.

The inspiration behind Mamma Home is as heartwarming as its comfort. Drawing on the nostalgic comfort of an Italian grandmother's embrace, the designers at Oppein have created a leisure chair that offers a safe and cozy retreat. The U-shaped silhouette and the down feather seat pack are designed to wrap around the user, providing a secure and snug experience. Each stitch and contour tells a story of Italian handcraft tradition, emphasizing the artisan spirit and commitment to quality.

What sets Mamma Home apart is its focus on self-care and relaxation. The chair's smooth U shape is not only a nod to the Oppein logo but also a versatile fit for various interior styles. The chair invites personalization through a selection of blankets with different patterns, allowing users to tailor the look to their liking. The ergonomic design supports the body's natural shape, and the down seat pack gently compresses to cradle the sitter, offering a serene sitting or reclining experience.

The construction of Mamma Home is a testament to Oppein's dedication to quality and innovation. The chair's frame features solid wood veneered and carpentry painted bending plates. The main fabric is a loop yarn formation, chosen for its breathability, moisture absorption, and durability. Enhanced with wool yarns, the fabric is also antistatic and water repellent, thanks to a peached surface treatment. The accompanying blanket is crafted from multicolored woven jacquard, adding a touch of elegance and warmth.

Measuring 1040*1020*850mm, Mamma Home is a testament to thoughtful design. The chair's U-shaped structure supports the body, with a back belt mechanism for added stability. The seat height and depth are optimized for Asian body contours, ensuring comfort for both sitting and reclining. The included blanket can be styled for additional warmth or removed for a simpler aesthetic, demonstrating the chair's versatility.

The collaborative effort of designers Shu Wang, Xiaoling Huang, Yuguo Wu, Qiuli Li, Cécile Vico, Bihui Rao, Luan Yang, and Guohai Liu brought Mamma Home to life. The project spanned from June 2023 to February 2024, with development taking place in Guangzhou and Paris. The chair was then showcased in March 2024 in Guangzhou, where it received accolades for its innovative design.

Research into consumer expectations revealed a desire for furniture that offers emotional resonance and comfort. Mamma Home, designed with the concept of Healing and Pleasing Yourself, meets these demands by combining high quality, artisanal spirit, and personalized customization. The design team overcame challenges by creating a piece that balances aesthetics, comfort, and adaptability, ensuring a product that not only looks good but feels good too.

Mamma Home is more than just a leisure chair; it's a sanctuary of comfort, inspired by the warmth of familial love and crafted with the precision of Italian handiwork. With its award-winning design and customizable features, it stands as a beacon of innovation in furniture design, inviting users to indulge in a healing experience that feels like a gentle hug from a loved one.
